HO2S Sensor Correlation Bank 1 Sensor 1/Bank 1 Sensor 2

Powertrain · Control de mezcla aire-combustible y emisiones auxiliares

Puedes seguir conduciendo con precaución

Descripción

This code indicates that the readings from the first and second oxygen sensors on the same bank of cylinders are not correlating properly. The car's computer expects these sensors to provide similar information about the exhaust, and a difference suggests a problem.

Causas comunes

  • Faulty upstream O2 sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
  • Faulty downstream O2 sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
  • Exhaust leak before or between O2 sensors
  • Contaminated O2 sensors
  • Problem with the engine control module (ECM)

Síntomas

  • Check Engine light is on
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Increased emissions
  • Hesitation during acceleration

Pasos de reparación

  1. 1 Check for exhaust leaks between the catalytic converter and the exhaust manifold, paying close attention to gaskets, flanges, and any visible cracks or holes near both O2 sensors.
  2. 2 Inspect the wiring and connectors for both the upstream (Bank 1 Sensor 1) and downstream (Bank 1 Sensor 2) O2 sensors for damage, corrosion, or loose connections.
  3. 3 Use a scan tool to compare live data readings from Bank 1 Sensor 1 and Bank 1 Sensor 2 to determine which sensor is providing abnormal voltage or response times.
  4. 4 Inspect both O2 sensors for contamination from oil, coolant, or carbon buildup, which can cause inaccurate readings and trigger a correlation fault.
  5. 5 Replace the upstream O2 sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 1) if live data indicates it is sluggish, reading out of range, or not switching properly.
  6. 6 Replace the downstream O2 sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 2) if live data indicates it is providing erratic or out-of-range readings.
  7. 7 Repair any exhaust leaks found between or near the O2 sensors, including replacing exhaust gaskets or welding cracked exhaust pipes.
  8. 8 If all sensors and exhaust components check out, have a professional diagnose the engine control module (ECM) for potential software issues or internal faults.
