Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch 'A' Circuit Low
No conducir — requiere atención inmediata
Descripción
This code means the throttle position sensor 'A' is sending a signal that is too low for the computer to read properly. This could be due to a faulty sensor or a wiring problem.
Causas comunes
- Faulty throttle position sensor
- Wiring issue (short to ground)
- Problem with the accelerator pedal position sensor (if separate)
- Loose or corroded electrical connector
Síntomas
- Check Engine Light is on
- Engine may not start or may stall
- Poor engine performance
- Hesitation during acceleration
Pasos de reparación
- 1 Inspect the electrical connector at the throttle position sensor (TPS) for looseness, corrosion, or damaged pins, and clean or reseat as needed.
- 2 Check the wiring harness between the TPS and the ECM for signs of damage, chafing, or a short to ground, and repair any damaged wires.
- 3 Test the throttle position sensor voltage output with a multimeter — it should read approximately 0.5V at closed throttle and increase smoothly to about 4.5V at wide open throttle.
- 4 Inspect the accelerator pedal position sensor (APP) connector and wiring for looseness, corrosion, or damage if your vehicle uses a separate pedal sensor.
- 5 Test the accelerator pedal position sensor signal with a multimeter or scan tool to verify it provides a smooth, consistent voltage reading through its range of motion.
- 6 Replace the throttle position sensor if it shows erratic or out-of-range voltage readings.
- 7 Replace the accelerator pedal position sensor if testing confirms it is providing a low or erratic signal.
- 8 If all sensors and wiring test good, have the ECM inspected by a professional for potential internal circuit failure.
