Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch 'A' Circuit High
No conducir — requiere atención inmediata
Descripción
This code indicates that the throttle position sensor 'A' is sending a signal that is too high for the computer to interpret correctly. This often points to a sensor malfunction or an electrical issue.
Causas comunes
- Faulty throttle position sensor
- Wiring issue (short to voltage)
- Problem with the accelerator pedal position sensor (if separate)
- Loose or corroded electrical connector
Síntomas
- Check Engine Light is on
- Engine may run poorly or stall
- Unusual acceleration behavior
- Stuck throttle
Pasos de reparación
- 1 Inspect the throttle position sensor (TPS) electrical connector for looseness, corrosion, or damaged pins, and clean or reseat as needed.
- 2 Check the wiring harness between the TPS and the ECM for chafing, bare wires, or shorts to voltage, and repair any damaged sections.
- 3 Test the throttle position sensor output voltage with a multimeter — it should read approximately 0.5V at closed throttle and around 4.5V at wide open throttle; replace the TPS if readings are stuck high or erratic.
- 4 Inspect the accelerator pedal position sensor (APP) connector and wiring if your vehicle uses a separate pedal sensor, and clean or repair as needed.
- 5 Test the accelerator pedal position sensor for proper voltage output and replace if readings are out of specification.
- 6 Check the ECM ground connections for corrosion or looseness, as a poor ground can cause incorrect sensor readings.
- 7 Replace the throttle position sensor if all wiring and connectors test good but the signal remains high.
- 8 If the issue persists after replacing the TPS and verifying all wiring, have the ECM tested and reprogrammed or replaced by a professional.
