Intake Air Temperature Too High
Puedes seguir conduciendo con precaución
Descripción
This code means the intake air temperature sensor is reading that the air entering the engine is too hot. This can negatively impact engine performance and efficiency.
Causas comunes
- Faulty intake air temperature sensor
- Wiring issues to the intake air temperature sensor
- Restricted airflow into the engine (e.g., clogged air filter)
- Exhaust leak near the intake
- Engine overheating
Síntomas
- Check Engine Light is on
- Reduced engine power
- Poor acceleration
- Increased fuel consumption
Pasos de reparación
- 1 Check and replace the engine air filter if it is dirty or clogged, as restricted airflow can cause elevated intake air temperatures.
- 2 Inspect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector for corrosion, loose pins, or damage and clean or reseat the connection as needed.
- 3 Check the wiring harness leading to the IAT sensor for fraying, chafing, shorts, or broken wires and repair as necessary.
- 4 Inspect the intake air duct and air box for cracks, loose clamps, or disconnected sections that could allow hot engine bay air into the intake.
- 5 Check for exhaust leaks near the intake manifold that could be heating incoming air, and repair any damaged gaskets or cracked exhaust components.
- 6 Verify the engine cooling system is functioning properly — check coolant level, thermostat operation, and radiator fan function to rule out engine overheating as a contributing factor.
- 7 Test the intake air temperature sensor with a multimeter to verify proper resistance readings per manufacturer specifications, and replace the sensor if readings are out of range.
- 8 If all other checks pass, have a technician inspect for heat soak issues such as a missing or damaged intake heat shield or improperly routed intake ducting.
