O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage
Puedes seguir conduciendo con precaución
Descripción
This code indicates that the engine computer is detecting a voltage that is too high from the oxygen sensor in Bank 1, Sensor 2. This high voltage signal suggests the sensor is not accurately reporting the oxygen levels in the exhaust.
Causas comunes
- Faulty oxygen sensor (Bank 1, Sensor 2)
- Wiring issue to the oxygen sensor (short to voltage)
- Engine running lean (too much air or not enough fuel)
- Contaminated oxygen sensor
Síntomas
- Check Engine Light is on
- Reduced fuel economy
- Failed emissions test
- Engine may run lean (hesitation or misfires)
Pasos de reparación
- 1 Check for other related diagnostic trouble codes (such as lean condition codes P0171/P0174) that may point to an underlying fuel delivery issue.
- 2 Inspect the wiring and connector to the Bank 1, Sensor 2 oxygen sensor for damage, corrosion, chafing, or signs of a short to voltage.
- 3 Check for exhaust leaks near the downstream oxygen sensor that could cause false readings.
- 4 Test the oxygen sensor signal voltage with a scan tool or multimeter — a consistently high voltage (above 0.9V) confirms the sensor or circuit issue.
- 5 Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors found in the O2 sensor circuit, ensuring proper routing away from heat sources.
- 6 Inspect the oxygen sensor for contamination (oil, coolant, or silicone residue on the sensor tip), which can cause incorrect voltage output.
- 7 Replace the Bank 1, Sensor 2 (downstream) oxygen sensor if voltage remains stuck high and wiring checks out OK.
- 8 If the code returns after sensor replacement, inspect the fuel system for conditions causing a lean running engine, including fuel pressure, injectors, and vacuum leaks.
