O2 Sensor Heater Circuit

Powertrain · Alimentación de combustible y aire

Puedes seguir conduciendo con precaución

Descripción

This code points to a problem with the heating element of the oxygen sensor in Bank 1, Sensor 2. This heater helps the sensor warm up quickly so it can start sending accurate readings to the engine computer sooner.

Causas comunes

  • Faulty oxygen sensor (Bank 1, Sensor 2) - heater circuit
  • Blown fuse for the oxygen sensor heater
  • Wiring issue to the oxygen sensor heater circuit
  • Problem with the engine control module (ECM)

Síntomas

  • Check Engine Light is on
  • Reduced fuel economy
  • Failed emissions test
  • Engine may run slightly rougher when cold

Pasos de reparación

  1. 1 Check the fuse for the oxygen sensor heater circuit and replace it if blown.
  2. 2 Inspect the wiring and connector at the Bank 1, Sensor 2 oxygen sensor (downstream, after the catalytic converter) for damage, corrosion, or loose connections.
  3. 3 Test the oxygen sensor heater circuit resistance with a multimeter to verify it is within manufacturer specifications (typically 2-30 ohms).
  4. 4 Check for proper voltage supply (typically 12V) at the oxygen sensor heater connector with the key on.
  5. 5 Clear the code and drive the vehicle to see if the code returns, confirming an intermittent or persistent fault.
  6. 6 Replace the Bank 1, Sensor 2 oxygen sensor if the heater circuit resistance is out of range or open.
  7. 7 Inspect the ECM connector and wiring for the heater control ground circuit if the sensor and wiring test normal.
  8. 8 Have the engine control module (ECM) tested or reprogrammed by a professional if all other components check out.
