O2 Sensor Delayed Response - Rich to Lean Bank 2 Sensor 2
Puedes seguir conduciendo con precaución
Descripción
This code means the oxygen sensor in Bank 2, Sensor 2 is taking too long to switch from reporting a rich fuel mixture to a lean one. This sensor helps the engine computer adjust fuel for better efficiency and emissions.
Causas comunes
- Faulty oxygen sensor (Bank 2, Sensor 2)
- Exhaust leak before the oxygen sensor
- Contaminated oxygen sensor
- Wiring issue to the oxygen sensor
Síntomas
- Check Engine Light is on
- Reduced fuel economy
- Increased emissions
Pasos de reparación
- 1 Check the wiring and connector to the Bank 2 Sensor 2 oxygen sensor for damage, corrosion, or loose connections and repair as needed.
- 2 Inspect the exhaust system for leaks between the catalytic converter and the Bank 2 Sensor 2 oxygen sensor, paying close attention to gaskets and pipe connections.
- 3 Clear the diagnostic code and drive the vehicle to see if the code returns, as the issue may have been caused by a temporary condition.
- 4 Inspect the Bank 2 Sensor 2 oxygen sensor for contamination from oil, coolant, or carbon buildup and clean or replace if visibly fouled.
- 5 Use a scan tool to monitor the Bank 2 Sensor 2 oxygen sensor live data and verify the sensor's response time from rich to lean is within specification.
- 6 Replace the Bank 2 Sensor 2 (downstream) oxygen sensor if it shows sluggish response or fails to meet manufacturer specifications.
- 7 Repair any identified exhaust leaks by replacing damaged gaskets, clamps, or exhaust pipe sections upstream of the sensor.
