Mass or Volume Air Flow Sensor A/B Correlation

Powertrain · Alimentación de combustible y aire

Puedes seguir conduciendo con precaución

Descripción

This code indicates a mismatch between the readings of two Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensors, labeled 'A' and 'B'. The engine computer expects these sensors to report similar air flow, and a significant difference triggers this code.

Causas comunes

  • Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor 'A' or 'B'
  • Dirty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor 'A' or 'B'
  • Wiring issue to one or both MAF sensors
  • Vacuum leak
  • Problem with the Engine Control Module (ECM)

Síntomas

  • Check Engine light is on
  • Rough idling
  • Poor acceleration
  • Reduced fuel economy
  • Engine stalling

Pasos de reparación

  1. 1 Check for vacuum leaks by inspecting all intake hoses, clamps, and connections between the air filter box and the throttle body for cracks, loose fittings, or disconnected lines.
  2. 2 Inspect and clean both MAF sensors (A and B) using dedicated MAF sensor cleaner spray — do not use carburetor cleaner or touch the sensing elements with anything else.
  3. 3 Inspect the wiring harnesses and electrical connectors for both MAF sensors for signs of damage, corrosion, loose pins, or chafing against engine components.
  4. 4 Test both MAF sensor readings using an OBD-II scan tool with live data capability and compare their values at idle and under load to identify which sensor is reading out of specification.
  5. 5 Check the air filter for excessive dirt or damage and replace if needed, as a restricted or improperly seated filter can affect MAF sensor readings.
  6. 6 Replace the faulty MAF sensor (A or B) if cleaning did not resolve the correlation issue and scan tool data confirms one sensor is reading incorrectly.
  7. 7 Repair or replace damaged wiring or connectors in the MAF sensor circuits if testing reveals an open, short, or high-resistance condition.
  8. 8 Have the Engine Control Module (ECM) inspected and reprogrammed or replaced by a qualified technician if all sensors, wiring, and vacuum integrity check out normal.
