Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 1/2 Correlation
Puedes seguir conduciendo con precaución
Descripción
This code indicates a mismatch between two different engine coolant temperature sensors (Sensor 1 and Sensor 2). Your car might have multiple sensors to get a more accurate reading of the coolant temperature.
Causas comunes
- Faulty engine coolant temperature sensor (either Sensor 1 or Sensor 2)
- Wiring issue in one of the coolant temperature sensor circuits
- Problem with the engine control module (ECM)
- Thermostat issue
- Low engine coolant level
Síntomas
- Check Engine Light is on
- Poor fuel economy
- Engine performance issues
- Inaccurate temperature readings
Pasos de reparación
- 1 Check engine coolant level and top off if low, as insufficient coolant can cause inaccurate temperature readings between the two sensors.
- 2 Inspect the wiring and connectors for both coolant temperature sensors (Sensor 1 and Sensor 2) for damage, corrosion, loose pins, or fraying.
- 3 Check the temperature readings from both sensors using an OBD-II scan tool — with a cold engine, both should read close to ambient temperature; a significant difference indicates a faulty sensor.
- 4 Replace the coolant temperature sensor that is providing an incorrect or out-of-range reading compared to the other sensor.
- 5 Inspect and test the thermostat for proper operation, as a stuck-open or stuck-closed thermostat can cause inconsistent temperature readings between the two sensors.
- 6 Replace the thermostat if it is not opening or closing at the correct temperature.
- 7 Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connectors in the coolant temperature sensor circuits.
- 8 Have the engine control module (ECM) inspected and reprogrammed or replaced by a professional if all sensors, wiring, and thermostat test normal.
