Engine Coolant Temperature/Intake Air Temperature Correlation
Puedes seguir conduciendo con precaución
Descripción
This code means the engine coolant temperature reading doesn't match the intake air temperature reading. The computer expects these temperatures to be related in a certain way, and they aren't.
Causas comunes
- Faulty engine coolant temperature sensor
- Faulty intake air temperature sensor
- Wiring issue in either sensor circuit
- Problem with the engine control module (ECM)
- Thermostat issue
Síntomas
- Check Engine Light is on
- Poor engine performance
- Reduced fuel efficiency
- Hesitation during acceleration
Pasos de reparación
- 1 Check for other related diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) that may help pinpoint whether the coolant temperature or intake air temperature circuit is at fault.
- 2 Inspect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor connector and wiring for corrosion, damage, or loose connections.
- 3 Inspect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector and wiring for corrosion, damage, or loose connections.
- 4 Use a scan tool to compare ECT and IAT sensor readings with the engine cold — both should read close to ambient temperature; a significant difference indicates a faulty sensor.
- 5 Replace the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor if its reading is out of range or does not match ambient temperature on a cold engine.
- 6 Replace the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor if its reading is out of range or does not match ambient temperature on a cold engine.
- 7 Inspect the thermostat for proper operation — a stuck-open or stuck-closed thermostat can cause abnormal coolant temperature readings that trigger this code.
- 8 Replace the thermostat if it is not opening or closing at the correct temperature.
- 9 Have the engine control module (ECM) inspected and tested by a professional if all sensors, wiring, and thermostat are functioning correctly.
