O2 Sensor Heater Circuit

Powertrain · Alimentación de combustible y aire

Puedes seguir conduciendo con precaución

Descripción

This code indicates a problem with the heating element inside an oxygen sensor. The heater helps the sensor warm up quickly so it can start sending accurate readings to the engine computer sooner.

Causas comunes

  • Faulty oxygen sensor (heater circuit)
  • Blown fuse for the oxygen sensor heater
  • Wiring issue to the oxygen sensor heater
  • Problem with the engine control module (ECM)

Síntomas

  • Check Engine Light is on
  • Reduced fuel economy
  • Increased emissions
  • Engine may run rich (too much fuel) when cold

Pasos de reparación

  1. 1 Check the fuse for the oxygen sensor heater circuit and replace it if blown.
  2. 2 Inspect the wiring and connector at the Bank 1 Sensor 1 oxygen sensor for damage, corrosion, or loose connections.
  3. 3 Test the oxygen sensor heater circuit resistance with a multimeter to verify it is within specification (typically 2-30 ohms).
  4. 4 Check for proper voltage supply (battery voltage) at the oxygen sensor heater connector with the key on.
  5. 5 Replace the Bank 1 Sensor 1 oxygen sensor if the heater circuit resistance is out of range or open.
  6. 6 Inspect the wiring harness between the ECM and the oxygen sensor for shorts, opens, or chafing against hot exhaust components.
  7. 7 Have the engine control module (ECM) tested and reprogrammed or replaced if all wiring and sensor tests pass.
