O2 Sensor Delayed Response - Lean to Rich Bank 1 Sensor 2
Puedes seguir conduciendo con precaución
Descripción
This code indicates that the oxygen sensor in your exhaust system on Bank 1, Sensor 2 is taking too long to switch from a lean to a rich fuel mixture reading. The engine's computer uses this sensor to fine-tune fuel delivery for optimal performance and emissions.
Causas comunes
- Faulty oxygen sensor (Bank 1, Sensor 2)
- Exhaust leak before or near the oxygen sensor
- Wiring issue to the oxygen sensor
- Contaminated oxygen sensor
- Engine mechanical issue affecting exhaust gas composition
Síntomas
- Check Engine Light is on
- Reduced fuel economy
- Rough idle
- Failed emissions test
Pasos de reparación
- 1 Inspect the wiring and connector to the Bank 1 Sensor 2 oxygen sensor for damage, corrosion, or loose connections and repair as needed.
- 2 Check for exhaust leaks before and near the Bank 1 Sensor 2 oxygen sensor location, paying close attention to gaskets, flanges, and welded joints.
- 3 Inspect the Bank 1 Sensor 2 oxygen sensor for contamination from oil, coolant, or carbon buildup and clean or replace if visibly fouled.
- 4 Monitor the Bank 1 Sensor 2 oxygen sensor response time using a scan tool with live data to confirm the sensor is sluggish or delayed in transitioning from lean to rich.
- 5 Replace the Bank 1 Sensor 2 (downstream) oxygen sensor if response time is out of specification.
- 6 Repair any exhaust leaks found near the catalytic converter or downstream sensor bung by replacing gaskets or welding cracks.
- 7 If the code persists after sensor replacement and exhaust leak repair, have a mechanic perform a compression test and inspect for engine mechanical issues affecting exhaust gas composition.
